Beautiful icon \"Saint Archangel Michael\" - Michael (Hebrew: מִיכָאֵל‎ (pronounced [ˌmixäˈʔel]), Micha\'el or Mîkhā\'ēl; Greek: Μιχαήλ, Mikhaḗl; Latin: Michael (in the Vulgate Michahel); Arabic: ميخائيل‎, Mīkhā\'īl) is an archangel in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic teachings. Roman Catholics, the Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, and Lutherans refer to him as \"Saint Michael the Archangel\" and also as \"Saint Michael\". Orthodox Christians refer to him as the \"Taxiarch Archangel Michael\" or simply \"Archangel Michael\".100% Hand-Painted on Wood. We use gessoed pine or lime wood panels (0.8\" thick) for a base of our icons. Following the Byzantine Art traditions, every icon is layered with a linen cloth, glued and hand sanded to a smooth finish. Painted using traditional egg tempera , gold leaf (vark, varak) and covered with protective varnish on top. The back side of the icon is darkened for a stylish look. The protection layer guarantees waterproof and long lasting with no change in color and shape. Nice addition to your icon collection that will last for generations to come.
