This is a very nice contemporary bowl made by Dominguita Naranjo. This is a heavy, solid pot made usinga tan micaceous clay. It is decorated with incised archs and concentric squares that circle around thepot’s shoulder. The framing portions of the pot are polished to a high sheen.
Dominguita learned pottery making from her famous mother,Tomasita Montoya, who has been credited with reviving pottery making in San Juan Pueblo. As noted, Dominguita\'s forms, typical of present San Juan Pueblo pottery, incorporate a combination of polished surfaces with bands of incisedgeometric designs.
The artist\'s signature is very clear. The pot was made in 2003. The condition is perfect!
