This sale is for a stunning antique Rosenthal German hand painted porcelain large kingfisher figure, #1678. This fine piece was purchased from a prominent estate here in Maryland. The previous owner was a French teacher that lived in Germany most of her life, finally residing here in the United States. She had emassed an amazing collection of items and had a keen eye for outstanding quality pieces!This wonderful porcelain kingfisher is one of two that I will be listing, so please give a look, as they are equally stunning. This kingfisher was designed by one of Rosenthal\'s top artists Fritz Heidenreich,(1895-1966). He was a reknown sculptor and ledRosenthal\'s art department from 1946 until his passing in 1966. This is the \"Eisvogel\" or Kingfisher. This is the mold number 1678, which is the larger variety and thus more desireable. It is masterfully hand painted with rich and vibrant glazes,(see pics). This handsome kingfisher stands just over 4 1/2\"at it\'s highest point, with a wing span of a shade over 8\" and an approximate base dimension,(which looks like a lily pad of sorts) itis 3\" x 4 1/2\". It isstamped on top of the lily pad Heidenreich, and on the bottom it has the Rosenthal green stamped product logo, along with the originalproduct sticker, (see pics)!!!It is inamazing \"heirloom\" condition,with NO damages what so ever!
