The statue is of the type known as Sardanapallus. This is one of the first images of god Dionysus.
Presented as a mature man with long hair and beard, heavily draped.
Dionysus, the great Olympic god of wine and pleasure in Greek Mythology. Later by the Romans
was called Bacchus.
Statue is cast from solid brass, handmade, has a good patina. Excellent condition.
