Beautiful alabaster sculpture measures 12-1/2\" x 14-1/2\" and weighs 11.75 pounds. Sitting on a dark wooden base, this genuine alabaster sculpture was created by prolific Italian artist A. Santini. The sculpture depicts the ancient allegory of love overcoming death in the forms Cupid and Psyche. In later, classical Latin literature, Cupid is usually treated as the son of Venus and Mars (whose love affair represented an allegory of Love and War). It has been repaired once. See picture of slight glue excess where one wing was reattached. At the very tip of same wing it is almost imperceptibly chipped. Really can be felt more than seen.
