This lot is for a superbGents Seiko AutomaticScuba Diver\'s Watch.The model is the 7002-7000 A1, dating originally from March 1995.
The watch is in excellent pre-owned condition, with a custom \'Midnight Blue\'Diver\'sDial designed in the \'Avenger Seawolf\' style with the distinctive \'stencilled\' arabic numbers and oversized batons layout. There\'s a new white Chapter Ring, new custom \'**Plo-Prof\' Hands,a very smart new Black & Silver \'Submariner\' bezel insert, a new scratch-resistant Mineral Crystal, and a brand new aftermarket Seiko \'Accordion\' rubber diver\'s strap.
This classic Scuba Diver\'swatch has been professionally Serviced and regulated, and is running beautifully, keepingaccurate time. The dual-finish steel Case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. The watch has a \'Quickset\' Date window. The luminous treatment on the hands and markers has been upgraded with a superior modern compound. I\'ll also provide a full Seiko instruction manual (in a downloadable/printable PDF file).

Dial/HandsNew Dial, customised in the style ofthe classic Breitling Avenger Seawolf, in a handsome dark \'Midnight Blue\' colour, with distinctive applied stencilled arabic numerals and baton markers, and an inverted Arrowhead at 12. The dial is signed \'SEIKO, above centre, \'Automatic\' in fancy script and \'WATER150MRESIST, Suwa symbol\' below centre.There\'s a \'Quickset\' Date window at 3 o\'clock. A Minute Marker track runs to the outer of the Dial, punctuated with luminous dot markers at the 5 minute intervals. The new Chapter Ring is in a contrasting white, with arabic numbering at the 5 minute intervals. It isset at an angle which helps to add an impression of extra depth to the Dial.
The new customhands are excellent, Grey with a solid White luminous fill, in the iconic**\'Plo-Prof\' or \'Plongeur\' style - a flared \'Sword\' Minute Hand, a wide pointed Baton Hour hand, both on a \'stalk\' central pivot, while the Seconds hand is a grey needle with a lume-filled \'box\' towards the tip.I\'ve used a modern luminous treatment on the hands and markers, they glowbeautifully, and it lasts for a good spell, which is a nice bonus on a redialled watch.
**The term \'Plo-Prof\' comes from the French \'PLOngeur PROFessionnel\' (Professional Diver), the ultra deep-sea diver watch originally developed by the famous professional diver Jacques Cousteau and the Oil Research firm COMEX back in 1970.
CaseLarge dual-finish stainless steelCase in excellent condition, with a Highly-polished finish to the sides, and a Satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces (I\'ve had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully - even up close I\'m struggling to find anything, perhaps some tiny negligible \'hairline\' marks on the high-polish finish at worst, but certainly no nicks or obvious scratches). The case edges remain sharp and nicely defined.
Bezelofferirectional steel Bezel, nice resistance, turns with 60 ratcheted \'clicks\', in very good condition, with a smart new Black & Silver \'Submariner\'Bezel Insert.
CasebackThe screwdown steel caseback is in very good condition, again expertly cleaned and polished, with negligible faint marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and defined, and reads as follows: \"Seiko,Stainless Steel, 7002-7000 A1, Scuba Diver\'s, 630613, A, Lightning Flash symbol\" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre.Please see the caseback photos (click to I\'ve also taken some close-up pictures of the case sides - note the crisp case edges, highlighting the sharp definition between the contrasting steel finishes - click to enlarge:
And some extra snaps showing the modern luminous treatment I\'ve used on the new \'Plo-Prof\' hands and distinctive dial markers, after brief exposure to a bright light: CrownOriginal screwdown ridged-edge steel crown, offset at the 4 o\'clock position,screws down and adjusts perfectly, stem is fine. Cleaned and polished, and in very good condition, one or two tiny marks on the fluted sides.
CrystalNew scratch resistant Mineral Crystal, in excellentcondition, with no marks of any kind. Some \'clickable\' close 7002A 17 JewelAutomatic movement. I\'ve had the movementprofessionally serviced and regulated, and the watch is running strong and true. All gaskets have been replaced. The Serial Number indicates the original manufacturing date as March 1995.
StrapA brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 \'Accordion\' ridged rubberDiver\'sstrap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I\'ve used \'Fat\' Seiko Spring Bars, which are a much better fit for these Diver straps, and help to ensure that the lug holes don\'t get worn through excessive movement. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5\" (220mm+). I\'ve taken some extra photos of the strap - click if you want to enlarge:
Running conditionRunning, and keeping excellent time. As well as the Service, I\'ve regulated the movement, and tested it using a professional timing machine. The watch has also been \'bench-tested\' twice on an automatic winder, over at least24 hours each time, and is accurate to better than +/-18 seconds per day max. (anything under 20 seconds a day is excellent foravintage automatic).
MeasurementsWidth without crown - 42mm (45.6mm including crown), Lug to Lug -45.3mm, depth 12.7mm. Lug Width 22mm. Weight total 100 grams.
Other-This is a terrific SeikoDiver\'s Automatic watch, in a large42mm, whichwearsquite proudly on the wrist as it\'s almost 13mm deep.Even though it\'s on a Seiko \'Accordion\' rubberDiver\'sstrap, it\'s a weighty 100 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a substantial wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Seiko 7002A Automaticmovement has beenfully servicedand regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keepsaccurate time.
The large dual-finish steel Diver\'s case has been expertly rebrushed and repolished, and looks excellent.
I\'ve fitted a new Black & Silver \'Submariner\' Bezel Insert, which is very smart addition, and looks great set against the custom \'Avenger Seawolf\' styled Diver\'s Dial with the characteristic bold numbers and markers. The \'Plo-Prof\' hands are another nice touch - the combination goes together really well, and adds to theiconicScuba Diver\'s appearance. I\'ve upgraded the luminous treatment to the custom hands and markers, and they glow beautifully after exposure to light, and it lasts a little while too.
Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very goodcondition, with onlyminimalsignsof any use, and has clearly been maintained well.I\'ll send the winning buyer a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how tochange the date and maintain the watchetc.
