First, be sure to note that one of the knives is detached from its handle, but can be repaired according to our jeweler.Thesetis absolutely gorgeous, with very detailed etching on the knife blades and the inside of the forks. We don\'t know the name of the intricate, ornate pattern. We are really guessing about the composition of this gorgeous set. The blades all are marked EPNS which tells us it\'s electroplated nickel silver (silverplate). But the handles have lots of hallmarks that make us thinkthe handlescould be sterling. Please mouse in closely on the second and third photos.

The hallmarks are: The initials J.Y. which we believe belong to the Yates Bros. who were Sheffield-based from 1910-1922. Then, there is a crown, a lion passant facing left, and the letter \"O\". On the other side of the knife there is another lion passant and another letter \"O\".

We have not tried to clean it at all. There is some tarnish, and some signs of wear, but it is in good vintage condition except for the one broken knife. A knife weighs 1.5 oz and a fork weights 1 oz. even. Please ask questions, as we are not particularly knowledgeable about silver and we do not want to mislead.
