Set of 6 silver teaspoons made by John Cook, a New York silversmith, about 1870. According to sources, John Cook worked as the foreman for William Gale Silversmith and bought Philo Gilbert\'s silver dies when he went out of business. This pattern, which is similar to, but different from Gilbert\'s #5 pattern, is a tipt or fiddle pattern, but I have not found an actual name. Coin silver (90%) typically was made of melted coins and does not quite meet the standard for Sterling, but is still polishes beautifully and looks great. These spoons, which I have called teaspoons have a slightly pointed tip which might indicate a citrus spoon, but those were not common at the time so I suspect these were simply the shape of the teaspoon for this pattern. However, they certainly could be used as a citrus spoon or teaspoon. Lightly monogrammed ACS. Some dings in the bowls (see far right spoon in the first picture), but overall good condition for their age. I inherited these some years ago and they need to find a new home.
