A 16 x 18 x 1\" pine wood sign advertising shredded wheat cereal. . No date but would have been made between 1904 and 1928 when the cereal was produced by The Shredded Wheat Co. in Niagara Falls, NY as stated at bottom of sign. Nabisco bought the company in December, 1928.
Lettering and trademark symbol of a woman in a robe holding a sheaf of wheat in her right hand and a torch-like item in her left. very distinct. Two eyehole screws at top suggest the sign was hung. Blank verso. Very good condition. Dark areas extend from either sideof the 14 nails used to attach a wood slat to the top and bottom of sign. Several scratches apparent on both slats.Seven small evenly spaced holes in the right and left edges of the sign. Will be well packaged for shipping.
