This is a great historical signature and the inscription on the back is great with a special note (actually a poem) from MacDonald himself to the daughter of what he says was his best friend. The 8 by 10 photo is not in very good shape though it looks good now in the hard protective plastic sleeve. The right side is torn away for about a quarter to a half inch along the edge and the picture when out of the sleeve has a slight curl to top and bottom. None of it affectsthe photo or the note on the back. Picture taken by George taken by Geo. E. Myers, commercial photographer, Conn. Please view photos as you will be able to read the note (I hope). The top of it says \" Count each day as lost, whose setting sun, does not receive some noble purpose, in good deed done, James MacDonald \" Now that is a great note/poem. Please go to Wikipedia or another reference for material on this man known as the Pioneer of Our Highways. His importance to our country has been compared to people such as J. Edgar Hoover. fascinating reading.The picture is from a dedication in 1953 at the Monument in Conn. to MacDonald. Not in perfect shape but what a one of a kind for history buffs. Thanks for looking.
