Please scroll below the description for photos.

A nice old oil painting that is signed in lower right Carl M Reel. Nicely done with kind of plenn aire or regionalist impressionist look to it. It is of a winter landscape with barn, house village and rolling hills in distance but don\'t know where is is supposed to be but kind of has the look of a New England scene. I don\'t know if artist is known or listed artist but it is framed in old frame that is probably period if not original and still has remnants of the dust back paper and the seal or logo from the famous art house or gallery McGaughen & Burr. You can find all kinds of information regarding this art company located in St. Louis, Missouri. The logo or seal also has a hand written no. but I can\'t quite read it. I assume it was an index or inventory no. of some kind and might be able to trace the year or details of painting based on it. Don\'t know if McGaughen & Burr had this in their studio or gallery or just framed it for someone. The rest of seal says: Restorers of Paintings a Specialty McCaughen & Burr Fine Arts Picture Framing 1010 Locust St. St. Louis 1, Mo. Based on look of painting and the seal, I would guess this painting would be from the 1930-1950 era and probably from earlier part of that range. The back of the canvas artist board that this painting is done on still has the original label for the board, Albemarle Canvas Panel Mfgd. by the Morilla Company of New York. Frame paint has some chipping and loss over years but mostly on top edge. It looks like the frame must have sat on a damp floor for some time which loosened the gesso and discolored the paint along the top edge as it has lost much more of the paint than other three sides and also accounts for the dark water staining spots in places on the remaining brown dust paper on back along top and around label. Frame is still solid though. I don\'t think it actually sat in water, probably just dampness wicked up the paper. The painting is not affected at all and is in good overall condition but looks like it has couple small scratches or dings to the surface in center area which could be touched up or restored very easily by someone who does that type of work. The deeper one is up higher in the whitish gray area that my finger points to. There are some lighter surface scuffs below that in same general area but would be very easy fixes as they are just scuffs. I thought about just touching it up with some matching paint but wasn\'t sure of the medium and didn\'t want to mess up a nice painting, which I am sure those looking are glad for. The frame dimensions are approx. 23-1/2\" H x 27-1/2\" W and actual image size or frame opening is 19-1/2\" x 23-1/2\". If someone should only want the painting and wants to reframe it, I would be glad to remove from the frame and send just the painting and that would reduce the shipping cost a bit. Unless I hear from a winning buyer, I will send it complete as it is shown and the shipping quote is for the frame and painting and would be adjusted down if only painting is sent.

TERMS OF SALE - PLEASE READ ALL CAREFULLY- It is all important and will save problems later.

Method of Payment: Paypal

Shipping (for continental U.S):$25.00 - Buyer pays all shipping costs. NOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL buyers: We do ship internationally but the cost can be considerably more and will be figured at conclusion of sale based on destination, weight, and method of shipping. It has also become necessary for me to include the following instructions to all overseas buyers. Every international shipment must go by air mail and over 4 lbs will have to go Global priority. That will greatly impact heavier items that don\'t have a high value. You will end up paying many times more for the shipping than the item in some cases. Please be aware of this possibility and make sure you have all shipping questions answered well before the end of the sale or you might be in for a considerable shock. I am aware that the high shipping rates may keep international buyers from offerding on some items, but don\'t want you to be unaware of the situation. The shipping cost shown in the listing is for U.S. shipping addresses only. Your specific countries\' import duties, taxes, and customs charges are not included in the item price and are the buyer\'s responsibility. Please check with your country\'s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding or buying. I will not violate laws by under-valuing merchandise or marking the item as a gift on customs forms and the actual winning offer price is what will be declared as the value. PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT as I will not be able to comply. Thank you.

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ. Some last important instructions. -- Please do not request that we stop an sale or remove an item from an sale once it has started. The only reason I will ever stop an sale early is if I feel it is necessary for reasons such as if I made a serious mistake in the listing, or during the course of sale lost or damaged the item, etc. I do not stop sales early at buyers request for the purpose of selling the item before the end of sale. It is against policy, plus not fair to other potential buyers, and I will not consider request to sell an item early for any reason. I also will not switch to a Buy it Now option on an item if it is not listed with that as an option, so please do not ask me if I would consider doing so. I am very happy to email for purpose of answering questions about the item for sale and giving more details if necessary, but I will very likely NOT reply to any email requests to do any of the above mentioned requests. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Thank you for reading and agreeing to all the terms of sales and feel free to email me if you still have any questions about the item or terms and conditions. Thank you for looking at this item and we look forward to being of service to you.
