DESCRIPTION

SILK EMBROIDERED BANNER: FLOWERS AND BIRDS ?? PRE-1930 ??-USED. Has been folded. Some threads attaching silk to backing are loose. See photo. Lighting varies. Background paper has yellowed. Color on banners still great.

HERE IS THE BACKGROUND STORY.
I bought 2 banners at an sale. I was told that they were found together in the bottom of a box under some linen. The closest thing that I have been able to find online on either is something similar to the other banner that dated back to 1875. Other information would lead me to believe the other one was made during the time of the Great White Fleet (1907-09ish). I really DON\'T know. As far as the FLOWERS & BIRDS silk, I was not able to find anything like it online. There is just not a way to really describe it that it would show up. It\'s possible - since they were found together that this one is also that old. Again, I don\'t know.

MEASUREMENTS not including the paper it is sewn to, but including the part under the edge of that paper: Flowers and Birds banner - ~ 22.5 x 22.
