Ibought this silver in 1991 in Istanbul Turkey. Shortly after 911, I wastraveling from Boston to San Francisco. The National Guard was there at thex-ray machines and because of this silver coin pill box, they pulled me overand went through my carry-on luggage. The National Guard quizzed me about this “AFGAN(Afghanistan) and if I had ever traveled there etc. I told them, I bought this inTurkey as a souvenir because I was told it was an antique Turkish Coin --pillbox and was very upset if my Turkish souvenir wasn’t from Turkey since that iswhy I bought it in the first place. Anyway…
Itmeasures, when closed ¾ of an inch tall, 1 ½ diameter and weighs approximately 40.62grams. I didn’t polish it as some people like the original patina. The top andthe bottom pieces; separately measure ½ each and the two pieces fit snugglytogether. It does have a few flaws as seen in the photographs. The coin is notperfectly round, and there is a tiny hole near the edge that is not perfectlyround.
