Offeredfor sale is a fantastic Shiny Singer Model 222 K with the famous and sought after Red S badge with a great shine and in perfect operating condition. It is being sold as a LOT with an amazing collection of accessories and attachments. It has a serial # ER902084, made in Kilbow Scotland. It has been cleaned lubed and adjusted June 2016 by S&S Sew and Vac of Poughkeepsie NY.

Basic Description: The Featherweights are lightweight portable table top all metal sewing machines. The Featherweights have always been a favorite with quilters for their reliability, easy transport, and a superlative straight stitch. Made from the mid 1930s though the early 1970s, Featherweights came in 2 basic models 221 born 1933, and 222 first appearing in 1955 each with a few variations, and a model 301 was also added in the late 1950\'s.

222 Specifications: This machine model made only in Great Brittan and only for a few years, has a light aluminum body, weighing in at just 12 lbs. It is a Straight stitch machine with ffull reverse feed, adjustable stitch length, dropping feed dogs, and has a removable sleeve creating a cylinder bed for free arm work. The Red Badge 222K is the rarest of this model, with only 27000 ever produced.

It takes low-shank attachments, and easy screw-on low shank feet that are still available today. The 222 also has a few exclusive attachments including a quilting/darning foot and a fabric hoop.

The featherweight machines use standard and easy to find 15x1 sewing machine needles. They have side load bobbins. They thread from right to left for great visibility. This machine has consistent stitching at any speed. It has a reliable Singer front mounted light. The stitch lengths range is from 6-30 stitches per inch.

These shiny black machines are sought after by collectors as they are well made, compact, reliable and easily portable machines with pretty gold decals. They are driven with all metal gears.Details: This little machine with a serial ER902084 dates to September 18Th 1960. It sews very well and is in great but not mint cosmetic condition, with just a very few pin scratch minimal decals wear a few paint nicks on close inspection as pictured. It was last cleaned and adjusted one month ago at S&S Vac and Appliance Sewing Center of Poughkeepsie NY.

It comes from Killbow Scotland with its original 220 V motor, and will require an up voltage step up transformer. A 100 amp universal transformer or higher is recommended.
I am including a 100 amp transformer with this purchase. This machine can be Americanized by replacing the motor, Bulb, and Plug to run on 110 Volt current for an additional $75.Sewing: It sews beautifully. It sews easily through layers of denim, through layers of clothes leather, or through delicate sheers. These machines can sew mid to light weight fabrics, but they are not the best machines for sewing large projects of dense heavy materials. They are considered the ultimate portable quilters machine.

Needles: Be sure to use the right gauge needle for the material being sewn. This machine uses standard 15x1 needles and the 221 class bobbin.

The users manual included describes how to oil and lube, use the attachments, and adjust the tension for different fabrics, as well as describing the use of the attachments. All pages are present with the exception of the rear cover.
