Thiswonderful old spool holder is turned from rosewood. There are 3 metalspikes to put spools on and a turned woodenrest for a thimble.The top has abuilt in pin cushion. The sterling silver thimble has the Englishhallmarks for Birmingham 1898 and the maker\'s mark for Henry Griffith& Sons. It\'s in excellent conditionwith no holes or repairs and is about an American size 11 (17 mmdiameter opening).

Thevelvet pincushion is original and is intact, though it\'s missing thevelvet nap on top. The wood finish appears to beoriginal and it has gorgeous grain patterns. Thetop has a thin chip at the edge or it might be a natural flaw in thewood. It has worn smooth over the years (see closeup). The condition isotherwise excellent and it measures almost 3 1/2\" indiameter by about 3 3/8\"high. It has 3 spools of Brook\'s Machine Cotton.
