MADE by LOUIS JEREMY MICMAC (MI\'KMAQ) INDIAN. Reknown Master carver Louis Jeremy wood carving . a very finely carved box, it measures 4\" long by 1 1/2 \" wide. 7/8\" high. Delicatly hinged with wire. It has 3 1 1/4 x 1 1/8\" wells inside for ??? Looks like the male and female deer in the woods scene has been lightly wood burned onto the top. Signed on the bottom. Jeremy was born in Brickton, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1879. He became a skilled woodsman and carver. Jeremy is known for the delicacy of his carvings which range from violins to baskets. He was an avid outdoorsman and a legendary canoe maker. Jeremy lived in Northern Maine for many years . He returned to the bloody Creek area in 1934 and died in 1950. Many of Jeremy\'s crafts are exhibited at O\'Dell House Museum in Annapolis Royal ,Nova Scotia. RARE! THIS IS ONE OF TWO SIMILAR BUT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT BOXES I HAVE LISTED SEPERATLY ON .
