This is Smoky Amethyst crystals that overgrew onto a nice bed of previous grown milky quartz. The milky quartz grew when the Appalachians came in, around 450 million years ago. The smoky and amethyst formed around 350 million years ago when Africa and the continents were splitting off the East Coast. Has some damage here and there, still making a great display.It is from Diamond Hill Mine in South Carolina.
