I've had this set in my collection since 1979, I actually found it at a garage sale. I purchased a lustre teapot from a lady and she revealed more pieces in her house, this condiment set. I also purchased an eggshell thin tennis set (those snack plates that hold a tea-cup alongside your snack).
I recently found this set in a rare yellow luster so I am offering this RARE piece here on to help defray the huge amount I paid for the yellow set. This is tan lustre and the pieces just make me smile...such worried looks on each dog's face. The Mom dog has the longgggggggggggggg tongue to serve as the mustard spoon. The puppies are the salt and pepper and such chubs they are.
The dogs are marked with the black= theTT in diamonds mark on the mustanrd and a simpler Made in Japan for the shakers) The tray however, has a red mark. Never noticed this! Since I bought it all together wayyy back before anyone knew anything about this shiny type of ceramics, I wonder if this was an early marriage or if these possibly could have always been together. The tray seems to be the same luster color and the dogs fit nicely.
Tray measures 8" wide and 3" in the other direction. Salt and pepper dogs stand 2" tall.
Collectors know what has happened to prices on luster in the last seven or eight years. This set is hard to find with all of hte components or I wouldn't think of asking for 36.00... a mere fraction of what this would have sold for back in the day. Enjoy and give yourself an early Christmas present!
