This is a George V silver cocktail purse / card case / aide memoir with engine turned design, lined interior / faux ivory page for notes and internal silver pencil (in working order).

There is a period monogram in the lid cartouche front centre as pictured.

The case has been assayed in Chester by Colen Hewer Cheshire during 1912 and the inscription under the monogram tells us that it was later given as a Christmas gift in December 1914.

Measuring 9.5 x 7 cm approximately, the case weighs 95.4g / 3.36 imp.oz / 3.07 troy oz although this weight will also include the internal fittings / contents as pictured, so it cannot be considered to be the true silver weight.

The internal lining is not loose or falling apart as they so often are. The case is in a nice clean overall condition and it has many years of service left in it. The hinge and clasp are both in good working order, as is the little pencil. There are a couple of small edge dents on the front cover of the case and three or four small edge dents on the rear cover. I have pictured and indicated a couple of these in the photographs supplied so that you can make a judgement.

Other than that there are a few typical light, faint scuffs and scratches around the bodywork but there is nothing really nasty or serious to highlight as you can see.

A good polish will no doubt further restore former glory
