James Howden of EDINBURH is listed in Baillies for 1781- 1842.Lovely full plate movement with cap[S stamp inside], solid steel balance & diamond endstone.
Well engraved cock with grotesque mask.
Fully wound, good balance , ticks for a bit on swinging in the hand & continuously with maintained pressure.
So just needed a service & therefore currently not working.
Lovely flush off-white enamel dial .
An interesting dedications for Mr. Robert Scott from a few friends at BERWICK for his services as a teacher in 1838, including an original watch paper for Mr.Scott , 19th century service carried out by Alex.W.TORRY , King Street, Castle Douglas.
Original glass crystal, a little milky with minor scratches.
Casemaker C B H , back a little rubbed.
49.38mm approx. overall diameter, not including pendant nor bow.
