Thisis a lovely, Edwardian, solid silver & gilt replica of the Coronationanointing spoon; made to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII.

Theoriginal is the oldest serving regalia, first recorded in 1349 and probablymade for the coronation of Henry II or Richard l.

Apartfrom the usual fine surface marks and slight fading to the gold plating, it isin excellent condition for 115 years old.

Itmeasures approx. 9.4 cm long, with the bowl 2.4 cm x 2.2 cm across the widestpoints and weighs 7.5 grams.

Thehallmarks are: The lion passant for English 925 silver, the leopard’s head forthe London assay office, with the date letter ‘g’ for 1902 and the

maker’smark for Charles Boyton (III).
