Solid Silver Rare VINAIGRETTE Nathaniel Mills 1851DONT MISS:This Extremely rare opportunity to acquire a Solid Silver: Vinaigrette.Hallmarked for: Birmingham - 1851. Makers mark: NM, the maker was the much sought after: Nathaniel Mills. One of the very best makers. All marks are clear on lid and base (partial marks to underside of grill).The Vinaigrette is an oval shape with stylised scroll engraving to the lid and base. The lid and base have a Serpentine shape which is more unusual, it is a very tactile item. There is a Cartouche on the lid, lightly engraved: HM Aylott 1857 (may be worth further research). The finely pierced grill is a stylised Ferns, the detail is exceptional, truly excellent quality. There is minimal wear to the gilded interior. There is no play in the hinges (whatsoever) and the lid closes perfectly. It is from a private collection. This is a extremely scarce example expecially in this shape and excellent condition by the very prestigious maker, Nathaniel Mills.
