Spahr 1000 Silver Overlay Thomas Bavaria German Porcelain Yellow Vase ca 1900-40:
$132.00

A beautiful butter colored bulbous vase with silver overlay marked SPAHR 1000, meaning pure silver. Friedrich Wilhelm Spahr learned his skill from Friedrich Deusch and was artist who developed repeating form and arrangement of lines with flowers or birds. He not only designed and applied the silver overlay, he also prepared the porcelain with his own enamel colors, painted the motifs and engraved the silver. He did not produce all these items by himself. Spahr\'s factory employed about forty specialized workers.

The vase was made by Thomas Bavaria; the Thomas Porcelain Factory was in Marktredwitz, Bavaria and was started by Fritz Thomas in 1903. The factory became part of Rosenthal in 1908 and is still open. The vase is marked Thomas, Germany and has an impressed pattern mark 1074/1. I can not find the exact date for the green backstamp,

The vase measures 4 1/2\" in height, 4\" in width at the center, and 2 3/4\" in width at the mouth.
The vase is in excellent condition.
