This painting is in good condition, no repairs; from an absolute high quality. The measures of the canvas are about 14 ¼” (36,5cm) x 10” (25,5cm) and with the frame which is in good condition, but not perfect and some wear, about 20” (51cm) x 15 ¾” (40cm). An absolute must for collectors of good and beautiful antique animal painting. Jef Louis Van Leemputten, Born Werchter 1865 – Dead Werchter 1948.
He was a painter of animals and figures, also landscapes with sheep. Son of Frans Van Leemputten. Was a pupil at the Academy of Antwerp, but mainly self-taught. Mainly know for his landscapes with sheep and other animal figures. Painted also birds & dogs. Participated in many national and international exhibitions.
