Splendid Vintage French Tole and Bronze 6 Light Empire Chandelier:

An extremely decorativesix lightchandelier withbeautiful neo classic features.

Thelarge bronze ceiling roseis in the shape of a bowl ofacanthus flower leaves, with stippling at the centre and agently furled rim.A suspension post below attaches to the light with a large embossed hook.

An embossedbronze tripod at the top of the chandelier is enhanced by three intricate tracery spurs extending upward around the top, and the three suspension chains are also attached here. As can be seen from the pictures they are allbeautifully detailed with long plumed and flower links interspersed with plain oval ones.

The tolewear body of this superb light is painted in a very deep green (almost black) which contrastsdramatically with the bronze work enhancing it. A typically empire style large bronze flame sits on a pedestal at the centre top and between each arm around themiddle bandis a detailed bronze applique picking up the design on the chain links above.

Six stunning bronze swans in flight make up the arms of the chandelier.The extending tail feathers of each bird curl intofluted capitals around the centre and as you can see they areexceptionally welldetailed from every perspective.

Bronze pedestals above the swans heads support the candle cups, each of these having agorgeous engraved design on the base and the bulb holders standing proud in the centre are embossed with a complimentary pattern. All are complete with faux candle sleeves.

The base of the chandelier has yet more wonderful neo classic features, two bronze bands etched with laurel leaves encircle the outer part of the bowl andin the centreis a very large circular bronze applique into which masses of detailedempire style decorative features have been chased.

An enormous bronze acorn finial in the centre completes this amazing light.

In excellent vintage condition the bronze has attained a warm golden patina over the years and the attention to decorative detail is remarkable. There are some minor imperfections in the paintwork commensurate with age as you can see in the pictures, but nothing that spoils the beauty of the light.

Perfectly proportioned and striking in appearance this most elegant chandelier willmake an eyecatching centrepiece in any home.
