This chalice or covered loving cup was made by Spode to commemorate the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1981. It was produced in a limited edition of 500 of which this is number 40. The front of the cup has an illustration of St Paul's Cathedral in gilt. The back side has an inscription that reads "To Celebrate the Wedding of His Royal Highness, Charles, Prince of Wales to The Lady Diana Spencer St. Paul's Cathedral 29th. of July 1981.". It measures approximately 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) high to the top of the lid and 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) from handle to handle. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
