Full length rifle barrel (32 & 5/8 inches long) with excellent rifling. The bore is bright and shiny. The breech area was bored out to about 0.625 diameter by 2.5 inches deep. I am not sure why. 7.5 inches from the breech end seems to have been very slightly reduced in diameter. It has a deep clear VP & eagle. There is also an A inspector mark. Outside has a smooth mix of blue and black patina. It has a smooth surface with no pitting. There are 2 vise marks from the removal of the barrel from the receiver. The original front sight base and blade are still intact. The rear sight mounting threads and receiver threads are in great functional condition. This could be used as is for a collector restoration or lined for a shooter. It will fit all SPRINGFIELD 45-70 MODEL 1873-1884.
