Up for sale is a used but inmint condition Spyderco Sage 3 blue G10 bolt lock knife from my personal collection. I cannot locate the box for this knife, thus I am selling it as used and with a discount. While it has been living in a carefully wrapped ziploc bag in my safe, make no mistake, this knife is immaculate as it has never cut anything, or been carried by me since purchase. With this model, you receive premium S30v steel and gorgeous blue G10 with this model which has been discontinued. A lovely knife indeed. If you have any questions, please message me here. Spyderco Sage 3 Bolt Action G-10
Spyderco\'s Sage Series pays tribute to knifemakers who pioneer locking mechanisms in the cutlery industry. The Series\' third installment highlights Blackie Collins who\'s credited with inventing the Bolt Action Lock.
An architect in numerous knife-world standards Blackie helped found the Knifemaker\'s Guild and Blade Magazine. He\'s authored sixty-plus patents and books, collaborated with many knife manufacturers and was inducted into the Cutlery Hall of Fame in 1996. His contributions influenced and positioned the knife industry for the twentieth century. Blackie\'s Bolt Action Series of knives was introduced by Gerber Legendary Blades in 1981. Years later, the knife company Meyerco would also create a series of Blackie Collins Bolt Action folders.
In 2011 Spyderco will release the Sage3, a Bolt Action Lock collaboration. The lock operates by way of a button on the side of the handle connected to a steel bar which slides in and out behind the blade\'s pivot. The motion of opening the blade moves the bolt, compressing a spring and propelling it forward into a space between the blade and the frame, locking the blade open. As envisioned by its inventor, the mechanism provides maximum strength and lightness.
The Sage3 has blue G-10 handle scales constructed with screw-together components and a silhouette wire pocket clip, adjustable for left or right-hand, deep-pocket carry. Its spear-point blade is U.S.A. made Crucible CPM S30V steel and ground flat. Jimping notched in the spine and finger choil fortify tactile grip for slip free cutting.
