This is an incunabula leaf from"De Ciuitate dei cum commento", or "Commentaryon the City of God". Thomas Valois and Nicolas Triveth wrotethe Commentary on the famous work by one of the most noted fathersof the Christian church St.Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD). KilianFischer printed it in the German city of Freiburg in1494. Theleaf contains 20-lines of of text surrounded by 63 lines of commentaryprinted double column in Latin on paper. There are 2, 3-line versalletters in red as well as minor rubricating throughout the text.The Versocontains 55 lines of text flanked by 62 lines of commentary andthree 3-line versal letters. (Hain 2068, Proctor 3214, Goff A-1246,GW 2890). This leaf contains minor staining.
