This handsome pocket rosary was designed and handmade in the USA by my sister, Joan.She used natural stone beads which makes it perfect for the guys yet beautiful enough for the ladies, too!
The medal hasthe image of the handsome and kind face of St JohnBosco. On the back is a rose, \"Pray for Us\" and \"Italy\" where the medal was made. The single Our Father bead is a genuine Autumn Jasper, a gemstone mottled in the colors of the fall. The ten Hail Mary beads are mottled green Tree Agates, one of my favorites! The 1-1/2\" silver-toned St Benedictcrucifix adds the interest of another saint to this perfect \"Pocket\" rosary.
All the beads are 8mm in size; the chaplet itself is about 9-1/2\" long.
Comes gift boxed and with a rosary instruction pamphlet, plus several related cards, a carry pouch, gift bag and tissue paper for gift presentation.
St John Bosco was an Italian priest, educator and writer of the 19th century who worked to help disadvantaged youths andjuvenile delinquents, employing teaching methods based on love rather than punishment. He called it the Salesian method after St Francis de Sales, and founded the Salesians of Don Bosco. With Sister Maria Mazzarello he founded the Institute of Our Lady Help of Christians, to aid young girls. John Bosco was canonized in 1934 and his important work continues today. He is the patron saint of Christian apprentices, publishers, editors, schoolchildren, and magicians. This last patronage is because as a young boy, John Bosco learned magic tricks to entertain his friends, and when he got their attention, would use the opportunity for evangelism.
Our family has a long history of hand-crafts and we have over 35 years experience in selling our wares at local bazaars and craft fairs. However, my sister and I are not getting any younger, and the effort of setting up at fairs is just getting to be too much for us. We decided to give a try - especially since we have been enjoying offerding and buying on since 2000! It\'s been a lot of fun so far and we still get to meet lots of wonderful folks - just not in person!
