<<<<<< 1904: ST. LOUIS WORLD\'S FAIR : two (2) items: a 6\" knife & a 7-1/4\" metal plate >>>>>>This is a very nice set of two (2) scarcely encountered authentic 113 year old items made as souvenirs for the ST. LOUIS WORLD\'S FAIR in 1904.
The items are:
1) a gold gilt soft metal plate measuring 7-1/4\", with images of the six main buildings. There are no manufacturer or artist markings on either the obverse or reverse. The plate is in excellent condition.
2) a knife or cheese spreader type bladed instrument measuring 6\", with the cupid-like figure at the top made of a dense and heavy white metal, a brass engraved cartouche just below the figure with the words \"ST. LOUIS EXPOSITION 1904\", all above a metal blade of possibly brass. There are no manufacturer or artist markings on either the obverse or reverse. The knife is in very fine condition with the blade a bit nicked and scratched, and the cupid-like figure of somewhat crude manufacture, as made.
