The potteries.org site says TJ&J Mayer introduced \"improvements in manufacture especially in polychromatic bisque printing\" which is interesting because it is hard to say which color this plate is printed in and how many colors are over painted in enamel. The center display of Greek vases and the border have dark brown, orange, red, peach orange coloration. There is also orange lustre painted on the edge of the plate and some parts of the border. The tiny orangish spot seen above left of the center design I believe is a drop of either orange enamel or the orange lustre. The back has impressed initials and \"III 1809\" hand painted in red enamel.

In excellent condition with fine crazing to the glaze seen front and back and overall light mellowing of the pottery.
