Steiff Traveling Zoo Store Display From FAO Schwarz Toys c1950\'s*DESCRIPTION
For consideration is this very rare antique Steiff Traveling Zoo Store Display from FAO Schwarz Toys. This set is for the Steiff Zoo display. It shows signs of use as is expected of a 65 year old wooden toy. Only one other Steiff display like this is known to exist and it is missing many important pieces. This one is complete and quite ready to display your Zoo Animals. This works well for displaying Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus reduced size animals as well. There is a crack in the front axle of the tractor that does not affect the displayability and could easily be glued. There are mechanical bellows that must have created animal sounds on the underside of the roof of the trailer. When the red round ball on the roof is pulled, the bellows activate, but the paper is old and ripped. They no longer make sound, but could be restored. There is paint loss on the tractor from being played with, but could easily be touched up or repainted. Personally, I think it adds realism to the set and looks like a real tractor would look. There is one grill bar missing from the tractor, but again, a piece of metal of similar size and shape would easily remedy. The set is 40\" long total. This listing is for the tractor & trailer only.
