1870 - 3.5\"by 7\" albumen stereoview showing two men packing up a burro or mule. Print on thefront reads \"Department of the Interior, U. S. Geological Survey of the Territories. Prof. F. V. Hayden in charge. Views among the Rocky Mountains of Colorado - W. H. Jackson, Photographer\".It has \"W. H. Jackson on left\" handwritten in ink on back.The stereograph has a yellow mount and yellow/orange verso. In this image, William Henry Jackson (1843-1942) is probably packing his camping gear and wet plate collodion photography equipment. Another view of this is titled \"Sinching the load\" and the packsaddle is identified as an aparejo, which originated in Mexico.

According to the site Luminous-Lint: \"Notes: Jackson is on the right. Other version has on mount: Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey of the Territories, Prof. F.V. Hayden in charge. Views among the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, W.H. Jackson, Photographer. In 1870 Jackson accompanied geologist Ferdinand Vandiveer Hayden on an expedition across Wyoming, along the Green River, and eventually into the Yellowstone Lake area. Jackson\'s images were the first published photographs of Yellowstone. Partly on the strength of these photographs, the area became America\'s first national park in March 1872.\"
