Sterling Mesh Purse with Hand Painted Enamel Frame, frame measures 6 ¼ inches wide, purse is 5 ¼ inches long excluding handle, handle is 14 ¼ inches long, marked “Sterling” and “935” on the side of the frame, engraved “Fanny D. Edgar” on the back of the frame, probably early 1900’s, probably American, good condition with a tiny pushed out dent on the back of the frames left side that was probably from something being closed inside the frame, could be gently worked out, there is a tiny hole in the mesh of the bottom front from a loose link, the links are fairly tight under the hinges with one side being slightly more open than the other side but no visible missing links, the enamel is in lovely condition with no cracks or chips and just a tiny bit of discoloration to the right of the flowers that seems to be from too close contact with 2 different colors, there appears to be gold bits of ornamentation under the enamel, the flowers are hand painted under the enamel, the ball clasps fit very tightly though there is a bit of a gap on the end that has the dent, the purse weighs 205 grams, a very beautiful vintage purse with delicate work on the frame, having the engraved name of the original owner adds a nice touch, just lovely.
