Please take a close look at the photos of this lovely pierced desk or vanity box made by the English silver manufacturer Elkington & Company in Birmingham, England. Crafted from sterling silver, the box is 6 1/2\" long by 2\" wide by 2\" tall. The pierced design of flowers, vines, and leaves is bordered along the bottom of the box and around the top of the lid by bands of three-leafs clovers alternating with blossoms. The center plaque on the top is engraved with an intertwined G H. The box is hallmarked on the top rim of the base which is concealed when the lid is closed and a partial hallmark is on the outer rim of the lid. Date mark is \"k\" for 1909. Weight of the box is 7.71 ounces (218 grams). The box is in good used condition. I have not given it a polish due to the intricate openwork. Please email with any questions before offerding.
