This beautiful and barely used (if at all) set of eight Towle Virginia Carvel Bread Plates are in the most excellent condition that one could ever hope to find a complete set of 8 Sterling plates in. They are right about 86 years old and come with their original individual lined paper sleeves. As noted above, the only flaw is a small ding in one plate, perhaps 1-2 millimeters wide, towards the inner edge of the embossed rim pattern. Please note that the various white lines reflected in the photos are just that, reflections of the ribs of the umbrella that covered the area where I took the photos. Other reflections of myself, my house, trees, etc. are also not defects in the plates. I took the photos outside to try and let the natural light show the full and vibrant beauty of these exceedingly rare plates. At this writing, I cannot find any other plates of this pattern and type anywhere, at any price. Please scroll down below this description for photos that I took of the topside of each plate under incandescent light indoors (hence the yellow-toned photos) in order to show the wonderful condition the plates are in. Thank you for looking at my sale. The plates are each 6 1/4 inches in diameter, and the aggregate weight of all 8 plates is 1.62 pounds,or about 23.635 Troy oz., or about 734 grams.
