Sterling Silver Egg Warmer - Antique George III

A fine antique Georgian sterling silver two handled egg warmer; part of the diverse dining silverware collection at AC Silver

This antique George III English sterling silver two handled egg warmer has an oval form.

The body of the warmer is embellished with a broad band of intertwined ribbon and leaf bright cut engraved decoration around the upper border and a much narrower band of husk bright cut engraved decoration around the lower border.

Either side of the warmer is ornamented with a vacant, wreath bordered, oval cartouche.

The subtly domed hinged covers, which meet together around the central handle of the removeable egg holder are also embellished with a bright cut engraved leaf decorated border.

This piece is fitted with two substantial plain curved handles.

This fine example of Georgian silverware retains the original hallmarked egg receiver.

The oval pierced decorated receiver has a simple wirewirk design to hold six eggs.

The handle which extends out of the top of the warmer is fitted with an oval painted wood and silver terminal.

Condition

This antique George III egg warmer is a good gauge of silver and fine quality.

It is in excellent condition and has a good colour.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside, and part hallmarks to the egg holder are all clear, and the bright cut engraved decoration crisp.
