Estate fresh- Unique HMSS stand dish with double inkwells bearing inscriptions to the main body and centre lidded section respectively(pictured).Hallmarked London 1892 in 4 locations -both ink well rims,central lid base and the main body. The whole item is 925 sterling silver weighing 1.55kgs plus the silver inkwell lids/frames. Guestimate 1650 grams total weight. (These weights are without the glass). Condition: Overall it\'s fine with no splits, breaks or repairs etc,the front panel has a small dent where the August 16,1920 inscription is located and both glass wells are cracked and chipped. Maker John Newton Mappin London 1892 of the famous silversmiths Mappin and Webb. It\'s a substantial piece at 13.5 inches wide x 10.5 inches deep x 6 inches high.Its had a cursory wipe over but could do with a deep polish.Would be of interest to quill pen and desk item collectors alike.
