Product Description

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver teapot by John Wakelin & William Taylor; an addition to our silver teaware collection.

This exceptional antique George III sterling silver teapot has a plain elongated octagonal panelled form.

The upper and lower rims of the teapot are embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved alternating simplified floral festoons and oval motifs accented with pin struck decoration, all on a matte border.

This fine Georgian teapot is fitted with a plain flush hinged hallmarked cover reflecting the identical decoration to that of the body; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of this piece.

The cover is further ornamented with a bright cut engraved crest depicting a demi-lion rampant holding in his dexter paw a branch of laurel.

The impressive cover is surmounted with the original panelled carved pear wood and sterling silver finial, secured to the interior of the cover by a quatrefoil shaped nut.

This Georgian silver teapot retains the original carved C shaped pear wood handle with panelled sterling silver sockets ornamented with further pin struck decoration.

This fine example of antique teaware has an impressive panelled spout accented with pin struck borders to each edge.

Condition

This antique teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.
The bright cut engraved and pin struck decoration is all very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Georgian sterling silver teapot.
