Stieff Pewter Colonial Williamsburg Restoration Inkwell Ink Stand:
$16.50

A fine reproduction ink well and pen holder made for Williamsburg Restoration, the organization responsible for the creation of what we now know as Colonial Williamsburg. When it was decided to make items to sell to support the restoration, it was decided that they should be exact reproductions of 18th items and that the reproductions should be of the highest quality. Contracts were let to various American manufacturers, each of whom had exclusive rights to produce and sell certain items. The Stieff Company of Baltimore was given the rights to make silver and pewter wares.
This ink well is a copy of a Colonial form: a around, dome-form body with a hinged lid on top, covering a removable ink cup, surrounded by three holes to hold quill pens.
Size: 4.75\" in diameter, 2.75\" tall.
Condition: nice patina on the upper part of the body. Underside of bottom is still shiny but does have some scratches (\"shelf wear\").
Mark: stamped Stieff mark with the Williamsburg cypher. Number CW78-18.
Shipping weight will be 1.5 lbs. Shipping and insurance will be $7.50.
