Stunning 1907 French Jumeau Bebe 18\" in Pretty Blue Silk Frock with Original Mohair Wig
This beautiful French girl caught my eye when I first saw her with her tender dewy bisque and her formal slate blue and cream silk bebe Frock. If you don\'t have a Jumeau bebe yet or if you are thinking of expanding your collection of fine French bebes, I strongly recommend that you give this darling girl your undivided attention because she has so many attractive value points that you will be delighted to own her. She was produced circa 1907 by the SFBJ firm, which was essentially the Jumeau firm with lots of additional French manufacturers merged together. In 1907, they decided to do a revival of the very popular Tete Jumeau bebe of the 1890s by dusting off the old molds and reproducing the popular doll. Only now, they had improved production techniques with more expertise on board. In my opinion, the 1907 Jumeaux are more attractive than their predecessors and this doll is no exception.

She has beautiful, glowing bisque and very attractive blue paperweight eyes with a deep watery presence that the Jumeau eyes are famous for. Add to that her fabulous original blond mohair wig and you have a real gem! Her original composition body is an improvement in quality over the later Jumeau bodies that have not stood the test of time with their flaking and chipping issues. Additionally she is costumed appropriately in a wonderful bebe frock representing the style of the late 1880s and she also comes with stunning black leather reproduction Jumeau shoes and a lovely blue straw hat bedecked with a large blue and cream silk rose and blue ribbon trim. She will be an absolute delight in your display case.
Wearing an attractive replica of a bebe dress made slate blue silk, pleated dropped waist, pleated cream silk brocade front panel trimmed with a large pale blue bow at the front and lace edge trim, antique full slip and plain pantaloons, white rayon socks, wonderful black leather French style shoes with metal buckles, pretty blue straw hat with silk rose.
MARKS: 1907 8
CONDITION: Excellent. Lovely fine quality bisque head with expert painting of features, crisp modeling of inquisitive face, pleasant color. A small flake to the left ear pierce hole and a slight rub to the left cheek are all that prevent this head from being flawless. The original body in sturdy original finish condition with both original hands in good condition but having been repainted. This is a very pretty 1907 Jumeau with lovely blue paperweight eyes, a sweet disposition and a charming ready-for-display costume.
