An extraordinary find! A two inch button made as part of a set of 12 buttons for export from Japan during the
late 1940\'s - 1950\'s and possibly as late as the early 1960\'s. A beautiful life-like white oriental lily with yellow shading to the center and green and brown stamens. This lily grows wild throughout the countryside on Okinawa and in Japan. We know this lily as the traditional Easter Lily. Stunning in it\'s size. Measures 2 inches at the widest point by 1 and 14/16ths inches top to bottom. The front is glazed, beautiful and pristine. The reverse is non-glazed. It is marked on the reverse with Japanese Kanji characters written in red. There is a thread groove with two bridge shanks on the reverse. In very fine/pristine condition. These large buttons came with a small brass safety pin through the shanks so as to be worn as well as a brooch/pin.Buy with confidence as all my items arrive with an unconditional return policy.
