Stylish, Solid Silver Tea Strainer and Stand – Birmingham 1921:

This is a stylish, solid silver teastrainer and stand, having pierced scrollwork handles to the strainer.

Apart from the usual fine surface marks,there are two, shallow dings in the base of the strainer and one, very smalldint around the base of the stand (not unsightly and all commensurate with ageand use); other than this, the set is in very good condition for 94 years oldand is without a monogram or crest.

It measures approx. 2.8 cm high at thecentre (with strainer in stand); 10.3 cm across the handles; 5.6 cm across thestrainer; 4.7 cm across the base of the stand and has a combined weight of 54.3grams.

It is fully hallmarked around the edgeof the strainer and on the base of the stand. The assay office is Birmingham,with the date letter ‘W’ for either 1921 or 1946 (they are both very similarand I have included it in a photograph so you can decide for yourself) and themaker’s mark is for Adie Brothers Ltd.
