RARE CUSTOM MADE Antique \"ROARING20\'s\" Flat Skimmer Straw Hat, COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL HATBOX
DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....Now an antiqueand almost 100 years old, this straw skimmer was popular from 1900 throughthe \"roaring 20\'s\". Made of light straw for summer use, with a flat top anda wide (1 3/4\") red/black striped band around the top. Top is 3 1/2\" highfrom the flat skimmer part. Flat part is 10\" x 12\". Round (actually a tadoval), with rough, \"serrated\" edge. Has a very wide 1 3/4\" wide leather hatband around the inside of the crown. Size tag says \"custom made\", 6 7/8.
Straw is woven in the hat for strength and the brimis also made with several thicknesses of straw for the same reason.
Maker label and cool large hallmark in the top insidecrown is \"Rogers Peet Company, New York, Boston, Washington\".
The inside is lined for coolness.
The best part about this is that it STILL HAS THE ORIGINALHAT BOX in excellent, complete condition, again with maker\'s name on thetop cover. You will RARELY IF EVER find such an early straw hat with the original box.
A great looking hat for a period collection, to wearwith an antique car, or just to wear to parades!!!
In absolutely excellent condition, with no visiblesigns of damage!! I believe it was worn, but it hardly looks it. Someonetook very good care of it for all these years!!!
