Very early example of a Gents Smiths Wristwatch in a 9ct Gold Dennison Case.This English made Wristwatch is model RH0709 and these models are considerably rare. I cannot find any other example on the Internet with this \"Pre-Deluxe\" dial and in a 9ct Gold Case. The 400 calibre English made movement or \"12.15\" as it is more commonly known has serial numbers \"C94116\" which dates the watch to 1951.The 9ct Gold Dennison Case, which was also manufactured in England, has hallmarks for Birmingham 1951, which ties in perfectly with the movement. It is highly unusual to see a 9ct Gold Smiths Wristwatch survive from this period.Calibre 400 movement is clean and has been professionally serviced and is keeping great time. During the service they fitted a new whole balance to the watch to replace the previous faulty one.Seen in a Smiths advert dating from 1949. The Smiths factory opened in 1946, so this is one of their earlier models.The dial has Arabic dot Numerals and a silvered dial, safe to say that the Silvered dial has discoloured into a warm yellow hue of patina. There a few age related marks throughout on the dial but definitely acceptable for a watch of this age (66 years old!).Hands are wonderfully original and unusual, there is discolouration throughout the hands, but wonderful to have these original ones.9ct Gold Dennison Three piece Case is in super order for its age having benefitted from a light Polish. The original winding crown is still functions but due to the wear to the crown, it could be troublesome to the Gent with bigger fingers, as it is quite difficult to get a grip on it. However this is the original 66 year old crown and I will leave it up to its next Custodian if they wish to change it.Plastic has been lightly polished and is in super order.On a new leather strap.Case measures approximately 31mm and 33mm with the crown.Overall a fantastic opportunity to own a English made Wristwatch, seldom seen, this watch will make a solid addition to the Smiths collector.
