Super Rare Annual Inspection Medal presented to the Custer Battalion of the United States Boy Scouts in 1918
The eagle and chain links are solid 10K gold - no markings but have been acid tested. The bar pin is gold filled.
The Custer Battalion was a Scout troop that was very involved in the war effert of WW1. They did community service and practiced military drills as well. They also had a baseball team commonly known as the custer boys or custers. They were the team to beat and were right at the top with just about any competition they were involved in. You can find reference to this scout troop in the Broklyn Daily Eagle. This award medal was presented to that troop. It is very rare and seldom if at all seen.
