Superb 1930’s Arts and Crafts French Aquatint – Sydney Zoltan Lucas Gallery:
$175.00

Superb Arts and Crafts-style color aquatint, entitled “The Old Farm.” This bears, in the lower left corner, the imprint of Sydney Zoltan Lucas, who ran a New York City gallery and who traveled to Europe regularly, contracting French and Belgian artists (including work by the Paris Etching Society) to produce works to sell in his gallery, most done in editions of 300 to 350. Much of the work tended toward the traditional and commercial – this, however, is far more accomplished and resonant, with echoes of late Symbolist and Arts and Crafts/Art Nouveau artwork. Signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right corner – looks like either “Dunand” or “Dimond” (the label on back says the artist’s name is “Dremond”). Matted, without glass, original gilt wood frame, wire for hanging on back. Aquatint measures 11.5” by 9”, total dimensions with frame 17.75” by 14.75”. Print in excellent condition with vibrant color, a few light spots to bottom cream paper margin. Matting with some spotting and soiling, some dampstaining along left edge.

Buyer to pay by credit card using Paypal. MA residents please add 6.25% for sales tax.
