DESCRIPTION: Simply magnificent circa 1960 John Widdicomb treasure chest commode. This fine piece of furniture has three drawers which are ornately carved with deep relief, gilded, and beautifully hand painted. The wood case itself, is a gorgeous honey pecan color and has a more modern style with turned bun feet. While this chest is an Old World or Old English style piece of furniture, it is also rather eclectic and would be just as much at home in a Hollywood Regency, or Mid Century contemporary setting. The small size is perfect for a living room end or accent table, as well as a lovely nightstand for your bedroom. The drawer is stamped Wm. A. Berkey Furn. Co. Est. 1881, A Division of John Widdicomb. Berkey furniture company was a maker of high end fine English furniture, and purchased by Widdicomb in 1950. There are only two of these chests currently being offered by high end designers on the internet, they are listed at $2,800, and $3,800.

SIZE/WEIGHT: Measures from the wood trim molding on bottom are: 27.5” wide, 18.5” deep, and stands 22” tall.

CONDITION: Very Good - Excellent used vintage furniture with no cracks or gouges, no finish problems or noticeable marks. There are some light surface scratches or wear which is quite normal with a piece of furniture of this age, and there are some minor tiny edge chips or wear spots on the molding, and a few nicks to the bun feet. Again, this is all normal age wear, and barley noticeable at all. Something red was stored in the bottom drawer which left some staining on the inside bottom. These are very minor flaws in our opinion. SHIPPING: Please email prior to offerding in order to get shipping estimate.
