Circa 1856-1931 Gilt bronze Art Nouveau Sculpture

A delicately flowing and curvaceous feminine form partly clad, posed with great expression upon a squaremarbleplinth.
Signed Clerget, Siot, Paris.

The sense of emotion this bronze portrays makes it a quite exceptional piece that with great charm gives one the impression it seeks out the attention of all within its presence.

Stands: approx 6.5\" High.

This bronze has been in our collection for over 15 years, being offered here for less than our original investment.

This is a very fine signed bronze for the antique collector seeking quality a French bronze.

The following information is on the foundry that made this particular piece.Foundry

This French bronze was cast at the world renowned Siot-Decauville Foundry which was founded in 1860 and flourished throughout the Art Nouveau period and into only the very first decades of the 20th Century.

The workshop foundry specialized in art bronzes and was originally located in Villehardouin street, then after 1920, Victor Emmanuel III Avenue in Paris .

The foundry was also a first-showroom located boulevard of the Italians, then at 24 Boulevard des Capucines in Paris, France.

Sculpture

Alexandre Clerget (1856-1931)

Alexandre Clerget studied sculpture with Alexandre Falguiere, then worked at the Salon between 1889 and 1924 some medallions, bronze busts, patinated and gild bronze small statues.

The Sevres manufactory realized several models after Clerget\'s sculptures. Moreover, Siot-Decauville foundry.Barbedienne\'s rival at the end of XIXth century, edited some works of this artist such as \'La Liseuse\', \'La Consultation\' and \'Femme à l\'iris sur une feuille de nénuphar\'.
